Incident on Dawn's Highway

This is the sequel to the other Jim Morrison painting, To Come of Age in a Dry Place.

I was inspired to paint it by the story he tells, of driving through the desert with his parents and grandparents when he was a small boy, and seeing a crash site of a truck which had been loaded up with Indians. The Indians (I won’t be politically correct as he uses this word in the poem) are lying about all over the road dead and dying. The boy feels the soul of one of them fly into his body. This incident was a defining moment in his life.
